Shanshou

Chinese martial arts have also been utilized in MMA by several fighters, being highly effective in competition thanks to its novel mixture of striking and stand up takedowns, achieved through a condensation of traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques. Most prominent and chief amongst these fighters is Cung Le, who is most notable for his TKO and KO victories over former UFC champions Frank Shamrock (in Strikeforce) and Rich Franklin (at UFC Macau). Other Sanshou based fighters who have entered MMA include KJ NoonsPat BarryZhang Tiequan[108] and Muslim Salihov. Fighters in the Ranik Ultimate Fighting Champion Federation also typically come from a Wushu, hence Sanshou background.

Catch wrestling

Karl Gotch was a catch wrestler and a student of Billy Riley's Snake Pit in Whelley,Wigan. In the film Catch: the hold not taken, some of those who trained with Gotch in Wigan talk of his fascination with the traditional Lancashire style of wrestling and how he was inspired to stay and train at Billy Riley's after experiencing its effects first hand during a professional show inManchester, England. After leaving Wigan, he later went on to teach catch wrestling toJapanese professional wrestlers in the 1970s to students including Antonio Inoki,Tatsumi FujinamiHiro MatsudaOsamu KidoSatoru Sayama (Tiger Mask) andYoshiaki Fujiwara. Common discipline in mixed martial atrs

Common disciplines

Most 'traditional' martiall have a specific focus and these arts may be trained to improve in that area. Popular disciplines of each type include:[84]
Most styles have been adapted from their traditional form, such as boxing stances which lack effective counters to leg kicks and the muay thai stance which is poor for defending against takedowns due to the static nature, or Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, techniques which must be adapted for No Gicompetition. It is common for a fighter to train with multiple coaches of different styles or an organized fight team to improve various aspects of their game at once.Cardiovascular conditioning, speed drills, strength training and flexibility are also important aspects of a fighter's training. Some schools advertise their styles as simply "mixed martial arts", which has become a style in itself, but the training will still often be split into different sections

Fight scored

There are three judges sat cage side, each with a different viewpoint of the contest. They evaluate MMA techniques, such as effective striking, effective grappling, control of the fighting area, effective aggressiveness and defense.
They use the 10-Point Must System, the winner of the round gets 10 points, the loser gets 9 or less, unless, in rare occurrences, it’s an even 10-10 round.

Judo

Judo
A combat art perfected by the Japanese,Judo, meaning “gentle way” is one ground and pound system of takedowns and pins that ju-don’t want to mess with. Because of its emphasis on technique and not on strength it’s very possible a smaller fellow can dislodge a much-stronger one. Now, that’s scary. But it takes a lot of hard work to be proficient  by Sangeetha.S

Yaw-yan

Yaw-yan
First stop, Yaw-yan – short for “Sayaw Kamatayan”, a sound of dread even from the name alone. The style’s distinctively Pinoy as developed by our very own ‘kababayan’, Napoleon A.Fernandez. Dubbed the Filipino style of kickboxing, Yaw-yan has close resemblance to Thailand’s fave sport, Muay-Thai, with its own version of eight-limb striking added with 70 distinct kick-forms. Incorporated with Arnis and the mastery in grappling, this deadly martial art is sure making waves in the MMA scene nationwide holding its own even against older stand-up fighting art forms (e.g., karate-do, taekwon-do).

Filipino martial arts

Filipino martial arts (FilipinoSining sa pagtatanggol) refer to ancient Indianized and newer fighting methods devised in thePhilippines. It incorporates elements from both Western and Eastern Martial Arts, the most popular forms of which are known asArnis, Eskrima and Kali. The intrinsic need for self-preservation was the genesis of these systems. Throughout the ages, invaders and evolving local conflict imposed new dynamics for combat in the islands now making up the Philippines. The Filipino people developed battle skills as a direct result of an appreciation of their ever-changing circumstances. They learned often out of necessity how to prioritize, allocate and use common resources in combative situations. Filipinos have been heavily influenced by a phenomenon of cultural and linguistic mixture. Some of the specific mechanisms responsible for cultural and martial change extended from phenomena such as war, political and social systems, technology, trade and of course, simple practicality.
Filipino martial arts have seen an increase in prominence due to several Hollywood movies and the teachings of modern masters such as Venancio "Anciong" Bacon,Dan InosantoCacoy CaneteDanny Guba,Mike InayRemy Presas, Wilson Pangan Sr. (Grand Master) and Ernesto Presas. By Sangeetha.S
